Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder (2/5)

Second night of the festival, this time with additional firepower to Chris’ English Support group, Chris K. and Stephanie. I have my first Raclette, a rather ingenious idea of letting your guests cook their own dinner, if you find yourself too lazy or short of time to prepare it yourself. The Asians have their own (like Shabu Shabu or KBBQ’s), and apparently, the Suisse do too. Unfortunately, due to the building’s World War I era electrical system, we managed to trip the breakers several times, and most likely, the neighbor’s too. Those silly Americans.
We head off to town after soaking ourselves with wine, cheese and bread drenched in bacon grease. What I thought was insane the other night, has just gotten more ridiculous. With squished bodies and spilled beverages everywhere, we find ourselves back in the middle of the town square. Chris K. managed to climb on top a bar and start dancing with random Suisse women. I follow suite. Soon after, we both get back down. Emblazened by this, other guys follow, much to everyone’s dismay. All the girls have gotten down. Who wants to see an all guys lineup on a bar doing funny dance moves?
It’s around 3 in the morning, and we move back to our base of operations, Cafe du Cerf. Jason, Chris’ room mate is nowhere to be found. Neither is Chris or Stephanie. It’s just Chris K. and myself who are left of the English Support Group. We manage to steal a few more dances with the Neuchâtelean ladies, and manage to catch the last bus leaving the town. Lucky for us, but as we find out the next morning, not so lucky for Jason. Nothing like a 30+ minute walk back home at 5 in the morning.
Neuchâtel 1/5

It is only fitting I write another entry about Neuchâtel, only because after my first visit, although hilarious in some aspects, I wanted to see Switzerland again without its glorious snow and ice.
And it’s quite nice. Seeing Geneva with colors as my lovely SBB train whisks me away quickly past meadows of greens and yellows, through Yverdon-les-Bains and random forests that appear out of nowhere, and as quickly as it appeared, vanish into more open fields of vineyards, farmland and a slew of graffiti.
